Iceland – Westfjords

Absolutely the cream of the crop in Iceland. The Westfjords feel like their own little country within Iceland. This region is geologically older than the “mainland” and deserves a dedicated tour, even though some roads are gravel. The Westfjords combine nearly every type of scenery Iceland is known for snow capped peaks alongside with bare rocky mountains, waterfalls, beaches, and ocean views all bundled together. Thanks to this unique geography, the Westfjords are known for their microclimates, much like coastal California. You don’t even have to be lucky to see rainbows, they seem to grow right out of the landscape.
